What just happened

The air took
11 metres off
your shot.

Without air the ball flies about 30 metres. With it, 18.8. Two things did that, and they are not the same thing: drag slowed the ball down, spin pulled it toward the court. Put them back one at a time and you can feel which is which.

Drag

Steals speed. Every shot, every time. The reason nobody hits flat and deep for long.

Spin

Bends the path. Topspin pulls the ball down into the court. This is the one you can control.
